Navan Horse Racing Preview – Sunday

Navan holds a good card and with a good bit of rain tonight followed by a nice day tomorrow, we’ll have perfect jumping ground.

12.00 2m Maiden Hurdle

BATLEOVERDOYEN is held in high regard by connections, he won his PTP in April last year beating Court Liability who has since won 4 on the bounce over hurdles and is now rated 124, that form alone is far superior to what any of these holds. He had setbacks for new trainer Gordon Elliott and was off the track for 20 months, but all that was put behind him when winning in style the end of last month, he looks way too classy for these and will only improve as he gets further.

12.30       2m4f Navan Novice Hurdle, Grade 2

Willie Mullins targets this race and has won it 6 times in the last 10 years, 4 with Ruby Walsh, so Easy Game will be well fancied, but Joseph O’Brien’s RHINESTONE done plenty wrong on his first attempt over hurdles and still won under hands and heels, he should of learnt a lot from his last run and looks very classy, the step up in trip also looks perfect.

1.00 2m4f Tara Handicap Hurdle, Grade B

DINARIA DES OBEAUX is not only from our sire to follow Saddler Maker, but has a perfect opportunity to take advantage of her dangerous mark, she was rated 139 after beating Ex Patriot early last year in a Novice Grade 3, not doing so well in 3 runs since over hurdles, her mark slipped and has reverted to jumping fences where she’s improved well and is now rated 142 over timber. The switch back to fences see’s her thrown in on a mark of 131, the more rain the better and looks the best bet on the card.

1.30 2m7f Maiden Hurdle

Gordon Elliott has won the last 2 editions of this race and looks to have a great chance to complete the hat trick, DIAMOND TURF relished the track when bolting up in a flat race early this year, he then ran a fine race against a race fit First Approach on seasonal debut, close form lines with Easy Game who could boost this horses chances in the 12.30, so worth checking.

2.05 2m4f Novice Chase

STOWAWAY FOREVER has been coming along very nicely, his last race was eye catching on unfavourable ground over a sharp trip in a good race. The step back to novice company will be more suitable and gets his ground and trip, the next best bet on the card.

2.35 2m4f Handicap Chase

ANGUS MILAN consistency isn’t his best attribute but returning to Ireland gives him a big opportunity racing off 112, he won off 119 earlier in the year on soft ground and will get his going preference once again.

3.10 2m Flat Race, Listed

Gordon Elliott loves this race and has won it last 3 years with a Gigginstown horse, this year the huge odds on fav Envoi Allen a £400k purchase is from different connections Cheveley Park, while looking the part and all eyes on this gelding, there looks lots of value to be had on stablemate and a Gigginstown outsider RUN WILD FRED, a big £225K purchase in his own right won his PTP on debut before failing a drugs test, now with different connections and new trainer.
